Composer Application

Application Process

  1. Apply online
    You must be registered as a Screened Music Network member and logged in to apply for composing membership. Then simply complete the online form with your composer details and upload your MP3 audition track. How long will it take?
  2. Shortlisting
    Applicants will be shortlisted before they are submitted to the panel. We aim to inform you whether your application has been shortlisted within a week of your track upload date. More on composer shortlisting.
  3. Panel Auditioning
    This is a monthly process in which the panel rate and review music. If you receive an average panel score of 80% or above you will be invited to join the Screened Music Network as a composing member. More on Panel Auditioning.

Screened Music is made possible by charging annual subscription fees to help pay for technical and administrative costs. Composing Members can choose one of two membership options, detailed below. Why Charge?

Please Note

  • Composer application is open to individual composers only who reside in the UK.
  • Members of composing partnerships or companies must join the network as individuals and provide examples of their own work only.
  • Audition tracks are shortlisted before they are submitted to the panel
  • Application is free
  • We aim to inform you within a week if your application has been shortlisted.
  • Panel rating and review is a monthly process. If your audition track receives an average panel rating of 75% or more you will invited to become a composing member the network.
  • Should your application be unsuccessful you may re-apply after a period of just 3 months.
  • Please read the terms and conditions before applying for a composing membership.
  • Under no circumstances should applicants attempt to make contact with members of the Panel regarding their application. Please address all queries to a member of the Screened Music team.

News: Mat has recently signed to BDi Music and is currently working on two feature films, one a witty documentary by Jamie Johnson for Number 9 Films following several contestants on their journey through the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the other a comedy drama directed by Avie Luthra and starring Meera Syal.
Trivia: Mat has a tendency to name his instruments. 'My gorgeous red accordion is called Ruby and lives in a dowdy brown case, my oboe Mr Bones, and three guitars Nick Nack, Ben and Bertha.'
