Composer Membership

This page provides information on how to submit an application track to the Screened Music auditioning panel.

If you are an award-winning or established composer with a number of professional credits you may bypass the panel audition. Please email info@screenedmusic.co.uk with further details of your work and a link to your website (or equivalent web page where your music can be heard).

Application Process

Apply online

First register and login in in order to fill our the online application form with your composing details. Then and upload your mp3 audition track. More on how long this takes

Shortlisting

Applicants will be shortlisted before they are submitted to the panel. We aim to inform all applicants whether their application has been shortlisted within a week of your track upload date. More on Short Listing

Panel Auditioning

This is a monthly process in which the panel audition the application track uploaded by the composer. Each member of the panel will provide a comment and a percentage rating. An average panel score of 80% or above you will result in an invitation to join Screened Music as a composing member. All applicants will receive their panel feedback regardless of whether their application was successful. More on Panel Auditioning

Why Charge?

Screened Music is made possible by charging annual subscription fees to help pay for technical and administrative costs. Composing Members can choose one of two membership options, detailed below. Why Charge?

Composer application are free. Students are entitled to a reduced annual subscription of £40pa.

Please Note

  • Composer application is open to individual composers only who reside in the UK.
  • Members of composing partnerships or companies must join the network as individuals and provide examples of their own work only.
  • Audition tracks are shortlisted before they are submitted to the panel
  • Application is free
  • We aim to inform you within a week if your application has been shortlisted.
  • Panel auditioning is a monthly process. If your audition track receives an average panel rating of 80% or more you will invited to become a Composer Member the network.
  • Should your application be unsuccessful you may re-apply after a period of 3 months.
  • Please read the terms and conditions before applying for composing membership.
  • Under no circumstances should applicants attempt to make contact with members of the Panel regarding their application. Please address all queries to a member of the Screened Music team.

Screened Music Guest Panellist William Goodchild

William’s composing portfolio includes original music for natural history and history documentary, radio drama and commercials. He works regularly with a number of international and national orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the London Metropolitan Orchestra. As conductor and orchestrator he has undertaken numerous projects for the BBC including several major natural history series.
