This is fantastically evocative.

Is there a 'become a fan of Rodney Newton' button anywhere on this page? I loved this track so much. I love the transparency achieved in the orchestration so you hear all the intricacies of the writing and counterpoint. Sure it is easy to say that there are hints of Debussy or Holst or Vaughan Williams - all of them geniuses in my view - but I think stylistically this stands up all by itself. Love it

As a newbie, it is difficult to write about this without the fear of sounding almost condescending - who am I and does my opinion really count? Well, it does to me and this I believe is lyrically and harmonically phenomenal. I can't stop listening to it. I love this genre of music that not only works brilliantly with the visuals, but can stand up as music in its own right. So much of what is written these days for screen seems devoid of any meaning once you separate it from the visual context. Great writing.

I really like this track. This is not meant in any way a derogatory remark but it is a very 'fashionable' style at the moment especially in the U.S. with the likes of hit shows as Six Feet Under, Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty. Really great realisation too. Love it. Love it

I love the recording quality of the cello particularly in this track. Reminds me of some of the nuances achieved by Yo-yo Ma for Williams' scores for Memoirs of a Geisha and Seven Years In Tibet. The doubling of violin and cello (your two characters) towards the end of the track with the same melody but two octaves apart do the 'cold burden' really well. As the parts then digress into their own counter melodies creating 3rd and 6th intervals - "harmony-fillers", the cue almost runs the risk of creating too much of a denouement rather than marking an a beginning, an exposition - it's an opening credit after all. So I'm happy that the cadence at the end of the cue seems less final/perfect. Great, great composition.

An absolutely virtuosic orchestration of such a tightly scored to picture track. Awesome work, Joris.
If you haven't heard this track in situ, head on over to Joris' website for the video.

Such a small amount of thematic material developed with real skill and musicality. Really beautiful.
