An exciting opportunity to view some of the work scored by Screened Music composers on the big screen with feedback from the event panel.
- The evening will comprise of selected film clips chosen by the event panel in the categories of film, documentary and animation
- The event panel will be on stage on the night to discuss their selected clips and the specific elements of the music they found to be successful.
- Throughout the evening there will be opportunities for the audience to participate with questions for the panel and the composers.
- The evening will be chaired by composer and BAFTA committee member Miguel Mera.
Screened Music BAFTA Event Panel
Maggie Rodford
Maggie Rodford is Managing Director of the Air-Edel Group, incorporating one of the world's leading music publishing and production companies, representing composers worldwide. The company has offices in London and Los Angeles.
Maggie trained as a music engineer and prior to joining Air-Edel worked at both the BBC and EMI. Maggie works closely with Air-Edel's composers, producing and co-ordinating music recordings. She was the music producer for the French and Flemish cast recording of the musical 'Tintin The Temple of the Sun' and has also worked as music producer, co-ordinator and supervisor on many prolific films scores including 'Atonement', 'Gosford Park', 'Bridget Jones' Diary', 'Gladiator', 'The Lion King', 'Beyond the Sea', 'Copying Beethoven', 'Pride & Prejudice', 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire', 'Eragon' and 'Miss Potter' amongst other projects.
Maggie served as a PRS Director for fourteen years (1986-2000) and for many of those years she was an active member of the PRS Executive Committee, she is currently a member of the BAFTA Council film committee.

Justine Wright
New Zealand born Justine Wright, trained and worked in commercials for ten years prior to editing her first long form film, 'One Day in September', directed by Kevin Macdonald. The film won an Oscar for Best Documentary Feautre and Justine was awarded the Best Newcomer Behind the Camera by the British Independent Film Award's.
Justine went on to edit two feature length dramas: 'Late Night Shopping', directed by Saul Metzstein and 'The Final Curtain', directed by Patrick Harkins. Justine's next projects were the documentaries, 'Being Mick', directed by Kevin Macdonald, 'The Game of Their Lives', which won Best Sports Documentary at the British Television Awards and 'Touching the Void', again directed by Macdonald, which won a BAFTA for Best British Film.
In 2006 Justine edited the TCM Classic Shorts Award winner 'Silence is Golden', directed by Chris Shepherd. The same year she also edited 'The Last King of Scotland', directed by Macdonald, awards included: BAFTA for Best Film, Best British Film and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Justine is currently editing Kevin Macdonald's latest feature 'State of Play', starring Russell Crowe, Rachel McAdams and Helen Mirren.

Martin Phipps
From a musical background (he's Benajmin Britten's godson), Martin read drama at Manchester University. Fortunately for the acting world he concentrated on writing music.
Following the early critical success of Eureka Street and most recently of the BBC period dramas North and South and Elizabeth - The Virgin Queen (for which he won an RTS Award for 2006 Best Original Score to a TV drama and a prestigious Ivor Novello Award 2006/7) Martin continues to create consistently innovative music which strikes at the emotional heart of the drama. In the summer of 2005 Martin composed a haunting score to the film Pierrepoint, directed by Adrian Shergold. Other recent credits include the The Wife of Bath from the BBC's contemporary adaptation of the Canterbury Tales, the acclaimed contemporary drama Dirty Filthy Love and the thriller She's Gone starring Ray Winstone. Martin's enchanting score for the 4 part BBC period drama, Elizabeth - The Virgin Queen, in which he incorporated the wonderful voices of the Medieval Babes and the Bulgarian Women's Choir to excellent effect.
Martin has recently scored the British feature film, "The Flying Scotsman", which tells the true story of celebrated Scottish cyclist Graeme Obree as released in April 2007 in the US as well as the BBC adaptation of the 2004 Man Booker prize winning "The Line Of Beauty" by Alan Hollinghurst.

Host: Miguel Mera
Miguel Mera composes music for film, television, and theatre. His work has been screened at film festivals around the world including: Cannes, Chicago, Edinburgh, London, Los Angeles, Tampere, and Venice.
Miguel has recently finished scoring Paul Morrison's feature film Little Ashes which explores the relationships between the painter Salvador Dali, poet Federico Garcia Lorca and filmmaker Luis Buuel. Recent television work includes dramas and documentaries for BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, the Discovery Channel, and the History Channel. He has also scored animation for Nickelodeon. Miguel is a member of the BAFTA education committee and teaches at the Royal College of Music. He writes about music and the moving image and is the author of Mychael Danna's The Ice Storm (Scarecrow Press, 2007) and co-editor of European Film Music (Ashgate, 2006).
